This lone-star techno-thriller, written by Houston television news anchor Tom Abrahams, is a Texas-sized conspiracy.
Beer, redheads, and politics... Jackson Quick should have known better.
First, he trusted a Texas politician. Then, he fell for a leggy woman. Worst of all, he drank a beer that tasted funny.
Now, Jackson is running for his life, trying to piece together how he fell into a battle over something so small that it takes a microscope to see.
While sniper teams take aim at a Texas gubernatorial candidate, a political aide is kidnapped and interrogated about the encrypted iPods he's carried around the globe.
Will Allegiance's unwitting hero succeed in saving his life and the republic? Or, will those trying to silence him prove too powerful in a world where Allegiance is nonexistent.
Allegiance is book number one in the Jackson Quick adventure series. Book two, Allegiance Burned is available now on http//amzn.to/1iuK99y and in print. Book three of the series, Hidden Allegiance, is also available on http//amzn.to/1KNroVI

There’s a lot to like about Tom Abrahams’ recent release—beyond “Beer, Redheads, And Politics.” Sizzling storyline, snappy dialogue and fiercely intelligent twists are just a few of the elements that lift Allegiance out of the vast political thriller muck and establish Abrahams as one of my favorite authors.Allegiance pits underdog, Jackson Quick, against a powerful cartel of Texas politicians, oil barons and multinational interest groups, in a brutal, high-octane cat and mouse game played out across the southwest United States. Abrahams quickly turns Quick’s comfortable, Texas lifestyle upside down, tossing him into the middle of a complicated conspiracy with the potential to bring the Oil Industry to its knees. Paired involuntarily with one of Abrahams’ most brilliantly notorious characters, Sir Spencer, Quick reluctantly embarks on a deadly mission to uncover the truth about his boss, the Governor of Texas.
Nothing is what it seems in this story, each situation and scenario shifting with a mercurial precision that will leave the reader stunned. The result is nothing short of a wickedly intelligent, breathtaking thriller.

Allegiance A Jackson Quick Adventure edition by Tom Abrahams Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I really enjoyed how this book kept me guessing until the very end who the good guys and the bad guys really were. It kept me engaged from the very first page until the very last page with action and intrigue. I can't wait to see more develop from the main character in this series.
Tom Abrahams can write a good yarn about Texas politics. He should know - he's been covering politics in Texas as a TV anchor/reporter in Houston. As a Houstonian, I love reading about the familiar places where the events take place in his novel. It's an easy read but full of surprises. I have not read his other novel Sedition but it might be good to read it, too.
Good to see you on TV as well as read your novel, Tom! Write some more novels. You are pretty good at it. There are a lot of Texans rooting for you.
Awesome political thriller. Great complex plot kept me trying to figure out who the good guys and bad guys are and it seems they keep changing. Fast paced with twists and characters you can't decide if they're heroes or villains. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to start another Jackson Quick story.
A good start to this suspense series with one lucky devil and enough intrigue to carry the day! Protagonist sums it up nicely 18% in when he takes a mental inventory "I was kidnapped; I was interrogated and let go; I'm being stalked; ...I've been complicit in something treasonous by delivering iPods around the world my girlfriend may be cheating on me; and I am busy chasing the invisible son of a secessionist sniper" (whew!) Lots of moving parts to the plot and plenty of striking characters like the British 'Saint' that had me breezing through this brief book at a rapid-fire clip. Good book and I did enjoy!
Won't get into any details...the whole crazy story just keeps changing. Seriously, this is one of the fastest-moving, POLITICO-TECHNO-ACTION THRILLERS (emphasis deliberate) I've read in a long time. The authors description is just the beginning of a mad romp where the players are not what they seem, loyalties are changing all the time, and Jackson Quick has a crazy time figuring out who are the friendlies (relative term) and who are the hostiles...and the friendlies may be the most dangerous. Took 3 days to read it, couldn't put it down, and ignored a lot that needed to be done. Great character development. Worth every last minute.
This is a good series; I've already read the next one and am waiting for the third one to come out. Mr. Abrahams is a good writer and even though some of the content is somewhat difficult to understand, he does a good job of breaking it down and explaining it. There is a lot of action. Sometimes a book's main character just does a lot of stupid things and gets himself in trouble. Jackson Quick gets in a lot of trouble but it isn't necessarily from actions that would cause you to think no one would be that stupid. My only complaint about the book is a little "nit-picky"; the further you go the more typographical and grammatical errors you see. A bit better proofing and editing would be good. But still, I recommend the book.
Jackson Quick is an aid to the governor of Texas. He unwittingly stumbles into a political conspiracy. Everywhere he goes seeking answers folks get killed. It is hard to tell the good guys from the bad.
Abrahams first novel in the Jackson Quick Adventure series, Allegiance, introduces us to a cast of characters that are not at all as they seem. A very cleverly written mystery with multiple layers that provides surprises at every turn of the page.
If you like to read about corrupt politicians, hired assassins, loyalty and betrayal, along with a news reporter thirsty for a juicy story, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
5 out of 5 stars.
