The opening of this novel is fast paced and introduces a feisty heroine and an arresting hero. The plot is well paced and the reader does not have to put up with silly contrivances to move the plot along. Foley writes well and the storyline remains engaging throughout most of the novel. Some parts of the plot are too familiar; however, the story is enjoyable. The political intrigue is not too dense that readers cannot understand it. Its relevance to the plot is handled deftly so that it works with the dynamic relationship between the characters and does not overshadow it. Members of the Knight family are present since the hero is part of the family, but the author understands that this is not about them. Therefore, when they appear they are not intrusive. If there is one unsatisfying element to this novel, it is the heroine. Royal or not, Sophia is often obnoxious and hot headed. Her rashness makes it obvious throughout the novel that she truly is not fit to rule on her own and that she needs the guidance of the hero, Gabriel. Although she does have redeeming moments and the reader sometimes understands her motivations, her character is not balanced with that of the hero because she is sometimes too overbearing. The hero ends up being more interesting and likable than the heroine. He is grounded and intelligent just as a hero should be. His heroic feats are not over the top and Foley makes him a man worth of any queen.
The passion in their relationship is finely drawn. There is no mistaking the love that they have for each other. Their pain at parting is palpable and Gabriel’s devotion to Sophia and her insistence that she be with him despite their disparate stations creates many touching scenes within the novel.
An interesting, although an unoriginal plot, and a likable hero who does not bore the reader with worn out dark brooding make this a worthy read. Whatever gripes there are about the heroine at some moments during the story, they are not to enough to take away from this satisfying read.

Her Every Pleasure A Novel Spice Trilogy Book 3 edition by Gaelen Foley Romance eBooks Reviews
i,too, was eagerly looking forward to this book's publication, being an avid foley fan. as the book starts, our hero, gabriel,is searching for his place and meaning in life.while he is a strong alpha male he also has a very vulnerable side which,of course, makes him eminently likeable. our heroine sophia enters and she too is torn between her duty to her country and her attraction to our hero. so far,so good. unfortunately the story takes a bad turn and most of the rest of the book focuses on the struggle of sophia not to get herself killed and to take the back the throne of her little country. i thought it boring, unneccesary and way too contrived, battle scenes, knife fights, betrayals and all. i wanted more of our main characters conflicts within themselves and the resolution of those issues and the emergence of their love despite their
struggles. gabriel almost turns one dimensional as he puts up with sophia's majestic hubris while she doesn't seem to put him first in any sense, altho she is aware of his internal conflict with going back into battle. all in all, a very disappointing read.
I really enjoy Gaelen Foley's books and believe she is a great writer! I accidentally came across them (thank goodness) and am reading all of them as quickly as possible! Love the Spice Trilogy!
I enjoy the great writing and descriptions in her stories. I always learn new things about the era and new vocabulary. I am a bit confused still about some of the family and characters so I need to find a family lineage tree in one of her books. Lots of twists and turns and the story and characters were well developed.
In my opinion, this is the best in the Spice Trilogy series. It was a high adventure, fast paced love story, with a great hero and heroine. You'll need to suspend your disbelief with parts of the core story, (i.e. a Princess who acts like a princess but was not really raised as one), but once you do the story really is fun and entertaining.
The Spice series stars the three cousin's of the sexy alpha males (and a few great heroines) from her Knight Series.
I started this. Look this afternoon, and I only put it down to have a meal, some author's talents vary, FOLEY 'S do not! The first book I read of here's was Lord of Fire, I have read more than I can remember, always to my great joy! Thanks very much!
Big fan of Gaelen Foley, and enjoyed this book as much as the rest. The story dragged a bit in the middle, but the characters were compelling, and the plot moved along at a good pace. Classic historical romance, if that's what you're looking for.
I have read the 7 book series of the Knight family and am sorry to see the end of these characters as the stories were well written and once starting the books unable to stop until finished. I recommend these books highly for their fast paced thrilling story line. I could wish Ms. Foley would reconsider and continue the Knight family by writing the heros and heroines grown up children. Hopefully she may reconsider.
